Stridr
Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 13, 2026 · Applies to the Stridr app for iPhone (version 1.4 and later), its widgets, and this website.
- Stridr reads your step count from Apple Health. It writes to Apple Health only one thing: the weigh-ins you log, as Body Mass, and only if you turn on “Save to Apple Health”.
- Everything is processed and stored on your iPhone. Stridr has no servers and sends your data nowhere.
- No accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no third-party SDKs.
- Your health data is never sold, shared with third parties, or used for advertising or marketing.
Who we are
Stridr is developed and published by Orchard Games (“we”, “us”). If you have a question about this policy, contact us at altezlansing@gmail.com.
Information Stridr reads from and writes to Apple Health
| Health data | Access | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Steps | Read | Daily and hourly step totals (with the names of the devices or apps that recorded them) to learn your usual daily steps and step goal, calculate Step Debt and Step Bank, the On Pace and Consistency gauges, Yesterday’s Steps, Trends, widgets and the Weight Loss Plan target. |
| Body Mass (weight) | Write only, optional | When you log a weigh-in and “Save to Apple Health” is on, Stridr saves that weight to Apple Health. Stridr does not read body mass from Apple Health. |
Stridr reads up to roughly the last 120 days of steps (hourly detail for the last 29 days). You choose what to allow on the Apple Health permission screen, and you can change this any time in the iPhone Settings app under Health › Data Access & Devices › Stridr.
How Stridr uses Health data
- On-device only. All calculations happen on your iPhone. Stridr contains no code that uploads data and has no servers, cloud database or backend.
- Only for Stridr’s features. Health data is used solely to provide the features you see in the app and its widgets.
- No advertising, marketing or data mining. Health data is never used for advertising, marketing or use-based data mining.
- Never sold or shared. We do not sell, rent, share or disclose Health data (or any other data) to third parties. We never receive your data in the first place.
- Not stored in iCloud by Stridr. Stridr does not use iCloud or any other online storage for your data.
What is stored on your iPhone
- a cached copy of the step totals it read and the results it calculated;
- things you enter: settings, step goal, rest/sick days, and, if you use a Weight Loss Plan, your age, sex, height, weights, target weight, pace and weigh-ins (Weight Log);
- a small summary (for example steps today, target, Step Debt and Step Bank) in a shared container on the same iPhone so Stridr’s widgets can show it. The widgets never read Apple Health themselves.
If you back up your iPhone with iCloud Backup or a computer, iOS may include Stridr’s app data in that backup, as it does for other apps; that backup is controlled by you and Apple.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, Stridr schedules local notifications on your iPhone (an Afternoon Reminder when you’re behind and a Sunday Weekly Recap). Their content is created on your device. Stridr uses no push notifications or notification server. Turn them off in Stridr’s Settings or in the iPhone Settings app.
No accounts, analytics, ads or tracking
- There is nothing to sign up for or sign in to.
- Stridr contains no analytics, crash-reporting, advertising or attribution SDKs, and no third-party code that collects data.
- Stridr does not track you across apps or websites and does not use the advertising identifier.
Because no data leaves your device, we do not collect, see or hold any personal data about you. On its App Store page Stridr is labelled Data Not Collected.
Contacting support
If you email us, we receive the information you choose to include (such as your email address and message). We use it only to reply to you.
This website
This policy and the support page are static pages hosted on GitHub Pages. They use no cookies, analytics or tracking scripts. GitHub, as the hosting provider, may process technical information such as your IP address to deliver the pages; see GitHub’s privacy statement.
Children
Stridr is a general wellness app. Its Weight Loss Plan is available only to people 18 and older; step tracking works for everyone. Stridr does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Your choices and rights
- Health access: change or revoke it any time in Settings › Health › Data Access & Devices › Stridr.
- Weigh-ins in Apple Health: turn off “Save to Apple Health” when logging, or delete saved entries in the Health app.
- Deletion: deleting Stridr from your iPhone removes all of its stored data and widgets. Your data in Apple Health is not affected.
- Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or US state privacy laws) you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data. Since we hold no personal data from the app, there is nothing for us to access or delete. You can still contact us with any request.
Not medical advice
Stridr is for general wellness. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease or condition. Stridr gives estimates only and isn’t medical advice. Calorie, weight and step targets are approximations. Talk to your doctor before starting a weight-loss plan. The low target-weight warning follows the CDC’s Adult BMI Categories (BMI below 18.5 is underweight).
Changes to this policy
If we change how Stridr handles data, we will update this page and its effective date before the change takes effect. We will not start collecting or sharing data without updating this policy and, where required, asking for your consent.
